I baked this Marble Cake made from simple butter cake with a little twist. Turned this into marble cake by adding two striking colors, red and green. The color combination is entirely up to you, use 2 or 4 colors if you want.
Accidentally add too much green color to the cake batter so it turns out darker deep tone luckily that doesn't alter its taste.
Cube the butter right after you have removed from the refrigerator.to speed up the creaming process.
In case you have self raising flour, use it but omit the baking powder.
MARBLE CAKE
Serves 10
1 1/2 cup plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
Green and red food coloring
METHOD
Preheat oven @ 175 C and grease a 8 in cake pan.
Sift flour and baking powder.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy add vanilla and egg, one at a time.
Fold in flour and both milk, divide mixture into 2 portions
Add in.green food coloring to one portion, the other part red.
Alternately spoon the mixtures into the pan. Hold the knife vertically, cut through the batters to create a swirl effect.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean
Cool in pan 10 minutes before transferring onto wire rack to cool.
