BRAIDED CINNAMON BREAD RECIPE

Braided Cinnamon Bread Recipe @ treatntrick.blogspot.com

Made from scratch,  this  Braided  Cinnamon Bread just got even better in shape and  taste.

You can also use this basic recipe to make a regular cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls,  sweet bun, monkey bread,  breakfast rolls and many more.  Simply  filling and shaping the base dough differently can result an entirely new product.

I have cut the dough  into  2 after shaping them into a log or you can easily turn it into one bigger loaf.

It smells wonderful while baking because of the addition of cinnamon.  The dough was easy to work with,   no additional flour required for mixing the dough.

Though my shaping wasn't  great but this Braided Cinnamon Bread is one of the best cinnamon rolls I ever made!

BRAIDED CINNAMON BREAD RECIPE
Yield  :   2 loaves

2.5 cups  bread flour
2 tablespoon (30 g)   butter
2  tsp instant yeast
1/2  tsp salt
3/4  cup  warm milk
1 tablespoon  sugar
1 egg (reserve 2 tablespoon for glaze)

TOPPING
2 tablespoon melted butter
1  tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoon white sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

In a small saucepan, melt the butter, add in milk and remove from heat.

When the milk is warm to touch add in yeast, sugar, salt and an egg. Stir well.

Pour milk mixture onto flour, stir with wooden spoon.  Knead by hand for  7 minutes or use a mixer until smooth and elastic,

Cover and let it rise for   1 hour or until double in size.

Punch the dough down,  knead for 1 minute until smooth.

Roll out dough into rectangle.   Spread butter evenly  on the surface,  sprinkle with brown sugar, leaving 1 in border around the edges.   Starting from the long side, roll up  tightly, pinching edges as you go  and forms into a log.

Flatten the log, with a sharp knife, divide into  2  equal portions, add more flour if needed. Roll each into a  long thick  rope about 11 in long.   Join the  2 ropes together at one end and start braiding.  Tuck in the ends.

Place dough  onto baking pan, let it rest for 1  hour.  Towards the end of raising time, preheat oven @ 190 C.

Brush  with egg wash,  bake for 20 minutes @ 190 C until golden.

The smell of baking bread is heavenly! I know this is delicious. I don't see anything wrong with your braid technique either. I have a bread recipe I occasionally make. Would love to have another version & this sounds similar. Pinning.
